Homecoming Week, Sept. 21-25, Spirit Days!
Spur Students and Parents! This year we may not have the opportunity to attend the college fairs or visit colleges in person. This is a great alternative. When you click on register you can type in Texas to see what Texas colleges are participating: https://virtualcollegefairs.org
Todays pep-rally will begin at 3:20pm . In order for us to have pep-rally's and stay within our guidelines we have a few procedures that will need to be followed.
All visitors/fans that attend will be required to wear a face covering to enter the building. The first two sections of bleachers on the home side will be for visitors/fans. Once the pep-rally is over, visitors/fans will be required to leave the gym before students will be allowed to leave. There will not be any intermingling of students and visitors/fans allowed. Elementary students will stay with their class and can be picked up from the Elementary building.
Tonight at Matador they will not have a concession stand. They have also asked that all visiting fans enter through the gate behind the visitor bleachers and not at the corner entrance like normal. Texas 1A fan will be carrying the game live tonight. The link can be found at https://www.1afan.com/broadcasts.html
Proud to be an American and proud to be a Bulldog/Spurette! Tomorrow on 9/11 don't forget to wear your red, white, and blue!
Parents,
As we prepare for Face-to -Face instruction to begin again on September 8th we are needing to know if you are planning to have any of your children continue with Remote Learning. If your child was already participating in remote learning or Face-to-Face instruction before August 21st you do not need to call. If you are wanting to move your child from Face-to Face instruction and continue remote learning you will need to call your child's campus office. Once Spur ISD is notified, you will receive a form to fill out and return to your child's campus office. If you have any questions please give us a call.
Parents,
When Spur ISD returns to face-to-face instruction on September 8th, 2020, we will be requiring all staff and students, age 10 and over, to wear protective face coverings. The fact that our County wide numbers are growing and wearing protective face coverings is the key to keeping our staff and students in a face-to-face instructional setting, as well as, participating in extracurricular activities. Protective face coverings keep individuals from being considered “in close contact.” Close contact is defined as being directly exposed to infectious secretions (i.e. being coughed on) while not wearing a personal protective face covering; or being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes, while not wearing a personal protective face covering. Protective face coverings are the only barrier, under current guidance, that keeps students and staff out of close contact when within 6 feet for 15 minutes of an individual positive for COVID-19 and being required to quarantine for 14 days. If a student is in a smaller class setting and able to social distance, they will be allowed to remove their mask, but mask will be worn during passing periods and during class if social distancing is not available.
Spur ISD will supply your child with a mask or a neck gator face covering that they can wear daily. Students may bring their own face coverings as long as they follow the SISD Student Handbook and are approved by their campus principal. Students are responsible for bringing face coverings to school daily.
Personal protective face coverings which include non-medical grade disposable face masks, cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth), or full-face shields to protect eyes, nose, and mouth must be worn by all students and staff unless one of the following exceptions is met:
• The student is younger than 10 years of age, though it is strongly encouraged to wear a protective face covering where and when appropriate.
• the student has a documented medical condition or disability that prevents the student from or endangers the student when wearing personal protective face coverings.
• while consuming food or drink; and
• while exercising or engaging in physical activity such as PE, UIL Athletics, and some non-UIL athletic or other extracurricular activities, but students must wear personal protective face coverings when entering and exiting facilities and practice areas and when not actively engaging in activities that are impractical for a personal protective face coverings.
Coaches, sponsors, teachers, and principals will discuss how face covering must be worn outside of the school days while attending school functions.
Students must wear face coverings while traveling on school transportation unless they able to spread out and social distance.
We will continue to monitor guidance from TEA and the CDC. If guidelines change, we will adjust our policies.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school at 806-271-3272 or contact your child’s campus principal.
Thank You
Craig Hamilton

Spur ISD administration has been notified that one of its employees and multiple high school and junior high students have tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member and the students are currently being quarantined and will remain so pending medical release. We are currently in the process of determine students who will be considered to have close contact and will be notifying you soon if your child is considered to have had close contact. Spur ISD staff members and students who have been identified as having had “close contact” with the employee and or students (i.e., being directly exposed to infectious secretions, e.g., being coughed on, OR being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes) have been separately notified and are also self-quarantining in accordance with CDC and TEA guidelines.
Spur ISD will only do remote learning for the next 2 weeks and will begin face to face instruction again on September 8th, 2020.
All elementary students will be contacted by their teachers tomorrow and we will be making arrangements to get them their information.
Secondary students should log on to google classroom at their normal scheduled times for instruction. The bell schedule is located on the Spur ISD website.
Please do not hesitate to call your campus principal with questions regarding this change.
I apologize for any inconvenience on you or your family. We are doing our best to try and alleviate any further exposure.
Thank you

Parents,
If you have taken your child to be Covid-19 tested please contact Spur ISD at 806-271-3272 or email chamilton@esc17.net so we can collect data for exposure. At this point if you have not been contacted by your child's administrator then your child has not been considered a close contact. This is a fluid situation and can change based on data we receive . Only parents/guardians of the student need to send information regarding testing. Thank you
School is back in full swing and 3rd graders are already working on a project for Mrs. Hightower!
